Edward’s Tale was awful. I liked the Anna process where she is pretty much pushing Edward to be with Harley, but as far as pertaining to the regular story it was incredibly lame. There was a lot of potential with the whisperweed but it fell short. This was by far the worst tale, which is a shame because Edward deserved more. I guess maybe the producers didn’t really know what to do with this one considering Edward is so weak.
I was very disappointed in Porom’s Tale, mostly because it wasn’t really about Porom at all. It was more about Palom’s quest to be a sage with very little introspection by Porom. The first part about Sage Tellah was really cute, but the second part with Rydia served no purpose other than to create a romantic link between Luca and Palom, which didn’t really need to be there at all. And then the ending? Sigh….I was looking forward to that one too, at least maybe because I was hoping they’d have some sort of white mage mythos that makes your hair turn pink haha.
Edge’s Tale was OK. Was it just me or was the battle ratio way higher this time around? I felt like I was running into battle’s every third step. The recon missions were kind of lame, mostly because you had to choose the right moon without knowing anything about each character’s strengths. It’s also lame that the characters can die, which I suppose wouldn’t be canon? But I don’t know, it was just awkward. The end was cool, as was the escape scenario, but the landing on the ship was a little too “heh” for me. They could’ve made it a bit more realistic instead of making Edge look like a guessey chump.
Ahhh Palom’s Tale was so good! I fell in love with the way they revealed who Leonora was! Also it the ending was incredibly romantic. I was left with a great positive feeling after this one.
MEH. Yang’s was kind of lousy. I really did like Ursula, but the Father / Daughter dynamic was a bit trite. Also all you got was monks so every battle was FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT which got old real quick. The last part (the woods portion) was a really awful dungeon and just not fun at all, and the going off track rewards were so little. The end was completely predictable and I know I feel a bit soured from my high, haha.
Next is Palom’s tale which should be good. I really do like the parallel storytelling that is going on. Tomorrow I have off so a good day will take place.
INCREDIBLE. This game keeps getting better. I was really surprised with the introduction of Luca (are they going to anime up at least one character per section?). The ending was really dark and actually very characteristic of the FF4 game. Onto Yan’s tale now. So good.
Wow Ceodore’s chapter was really freaking good. They’ve managed to be pretty unobvious with a lot of the character placement and history, and there are a bunch of creative ways they re-used dungeons. I really liked how the Devil’s Road became a dungeon. I LOVE how Porom turned out, even though they anime’d her up, haha. Gonna continue this now.
Just beat the FFIV Interlude. For a quick playthrough it was REALLY good. It took a big to disassociate myself from the Lunar Ruins portion of the game and this, as the Ruins probably isn’t canon, but it was definitely a fabulous and faithful continuation of the game. I’m going to start the After Years tonight.
Brachioraidos owned, Bestiary 100% complete. Never got the pink tail or rare summons, sigh. Maybe I’ll do it later. Onto FFIV Interlude.
